Our buns + Agnostic Front & Anti-Flag = A Good Time
This past week has been a busy one! Lucky for me, my husband has a pretty diverse and talented group of friends that keep me constantly entertained who just happened to be playing shows around town. Of course, I wanted to feed them.
Last Friday, we were invited to a show at one of my favorite dive bars in SF. Thee Parkside. When we got there, the place was beyond packed. And for good reason. New York legendary Hardcore/Thrash titans, Agnostic Front, were in town for their 25th anniversary tour.
Uh, awesome much? I was stoked that my husband was able to catch up with his friends and most of all, thankful to have VIP access to the bathroom. THANK YOU GOD.
After chatting a while with the guys in the band and randomly running into the gorgeous Elizabeth Castoria, managing editor at VegNews magazine, I made a ferocious attempt to fight off a room full of 250 pound sweaty men to get a drink at the bar. A half hour later when I wandered back with the drinks, my friends response was “What the hell is that? I’ve had bigger drinks on an airplane.” I decided freezing my ass off outside for the remainder of the night was a better option than strapping on brass knuckles for another drink.
After the show, we said our goodbye’s and exchanged contact information. Let me just say, NYC… I’m about to be all over you. I can’t wait to take on the east coast vegan food scene with those guys!
Last night, we stopped by another one of my favorite city venues – Slim’s – to say “what up” to our friends in Anti-Flag. Call me soft, but I was freeeeeezing when we got there! Thankfully the guys had a heated bus and their tour manager was nice enough to make us some coffee. OMG,IFREAKINLOVEYOU.
We met a few of their friends, laughed over #2′s hilarious story involving Gene Simmons and polished turd and best of all, watched Pat devour one of our Rocky Road cinnamon rolls and say “Oh my God”. When the word “God” and our baked goods are in the same sentence, I’m happy. Thanks Pat!
Unfortunately, we had to take off earlier than we would have liked due to the fact our new little one was at home with our cats who wanted to kill him. It was nice to meet everyone for the first time, to see my husband so happy and listen to him reminisce with his friends over his band days though. I’d say we had a pretty great week.
If you haven’t heard of these bands, I feel sorry for you.
No, seriously though, I strongly suggest you check them out next time they are in your area. Not only are they amazing musicians but they are all super stand-up dudes. Plus, they dig our buns… so that makes them extra awesome.
